Art Gallery Imhof Fine Arts presents Danse Sauvage – a staging in which contemporary art unfolds as a celebration of raw movement, colour and desire, transforming the space into a vivid tableau of rhythm and atmosphere.
At the centre is Dancing Group by Miklos Nemeth, a work that exemplifies the power of Neo-Expressionism to unite figuration and abstraction with emotional immediacy. Executed in bold acrylics, the painting reveals a mosaic of gestural colour planes, from which a group of dancing figures emerges. The composition abandons classical perspective in favour of rhythmic blocks of colour, capturing the flow of motion and the exuberance of the moment. Contrasts of vibrant yellow, deep green and earthy reds are heightened by accents in pink, blue and white, deliberately guiding the viewer’s eye and intensifying the dynamic tension. The result is less a literal depiction than a visual experience – a translation of music and dance into timeless pictorial form.
Set within a classical setting, the painting is complemented by two Thonet chairs whose curved lines echo the rhythms of Nemeth’s composition. In their dialogue with colour, line and form, artwork and objects merge into a unified tableau – one that embodies both the wild energy of performance and the intimacy of contemplation.
