Vibrant Waves

Art Gallery Imhof Fine Arts presents Vibrant Waves – a staging that radically redefines the boundaries between impulse and structure. The showroom becomes a visual resonance space where painting is experienced as pure movement and the sampling of information.

In the exhibited works Spritz I, Spritz II, and Spritz IV from the Radio Spritz series, Dick Berckenkamp radicalizes his artistic dialogue by working on the canvas lying flat from all sides. These pieces function as visual scores of what actually remains invisible to the eye. Acrylic and spray paint combine to create spraying rhythms and crossing signals that resemble radio waves and frequencies. Firmly anchored in post-abstraction, these compositions transform the static canvas into a living energy field where colors become sounds and contours become pure frequency.

Roland Berger’s Resting Wave forms a sculptural counterpoint. In this work, Berger transforms rigid white marble into the illusion of movement. The sculpture evokes a receding ocean wave – a fleeting moment between motion and stillness, perfectly smooth and gently undulating. While Berckenkamp’s canvases visualize the pulsating restlessness of radio signals, the marble sculpture channels this energy into a contemplative, almost restrained stillness. The solidity of the stone contrasts with the soft, organic lines, connecting the fleeting impulses of the painting with the timeless presence of the marble.
