Maxis - Chef de Mulu

In Maxis Chef de Mulu opens an expressive view from the window: the bright yellow background evokes dazzling sunlight, in front of which green and red forms unfold in dynamic gestures – sometimes brushed broadly, sometimes scratched, sometimes set in quick movements. The result is a vegetation that suggests leaves in the wind without being naturalistic.

The painting is shaped by the intensity and immediacy of Neo-Expressionism, while also drawing on the spontaneity and structural chance of Tachism. The vertical grey-black lines at the edge recall the calligraphic reduction of Japanese ink painting, giving the work a contemplative frame.

Maxis thus transforms the view from the window into a vibrant play of color, gesture and memory.
