About

The passion for art and an eye for the extraordinary form the foundation of our family history, which now spans three generations. This journey began in the 1930s in Vienna. At that time, Eduard Imhof founded the Galerie Eduard & Rosa Imhof together with his mother. Located on the historic Franz-Josefs-Kai in the first district, this step marked the beginning of a deep connection to the art world.

An Art Tradition Rooted in the Heart of Vienna

In the early 1960s, this tradition continued with the opening of the Operngalerie in Vienna’s Führichgasse. Under the family’s leadership, the gallery established itself as a permanent institution for exquisite art and antiques. During these decades, the focus rested primarily on Old Masters. Furthermore, magnificent furniture from the Renaissance and Baroque eras shaped our collection. In this era, the family truly perfected its expertise and eye for quality.

With Udo Imhof, the family’s horizon expanded across the Atlantic in the late 1980s. In New York City, he founded The Biedermeier House, Ltd. together with his partners. Consequently, he brought the elegant charm of the European Biedermeier style to the art metropolis of the USA. In the late 1990s, he eventually returned to his home city of Vienna to establish Galerie Landskron. This new space presented furniture from the Renaissance to Art Deco. Moreover, the Galerie beim Uhrenmuseum / Imhof Fine Arts opened in the historic Kurrentgasse in the early 2000s, further consolidating the family portfolio in the heart of Vienna.

The Evolution Into the Modern Era and the Move to Maastricht

Today, Dominik Imhof carries on this fascinating family history into the third generation. Together with his partner Denise Rosenitsch, he has successfully guided the family tradition into the modern era. Therefore, the year 2024 brought the rebranding of Imhof Fine Arts and the strategic move to Maastricht. At Smedenstraat 26 in Maastricht, they are now opening a new chapter. This step beautifully combines the family’s decades of experience with contemporary impulses.

Today’s gallery in Maastricht places a deliberate emphasis on contemporary art. Here, we present a carefully curated selection of paintings and sculptures. Yet, the family’s heritage remains completely palpable throughout the space. Modern masterpieces stand in a harmonious combination with a fine selection of exquisite antiques. Ultimately, this dialogue between eras perfectly reflects the evolution of the Imhof family.

For nearly a century, the Imhof name has stood for art dealing at the highest level. At exclusive addresses in the heart of Europe and at international art fairs, we present artworks that tell captivating stories. These pieces have outlasted generations. Today, just as in the past, we cordially invite you to share this enduring passion with us.
