Inner Labyrinth

Art Gallery Imhof Fine Arts presents in Inner Labyrinth a juxtaposition of introspective color intensity and sculptural meditation, which can be understood as a collective search for the core of human happiness. The showroom combines the multi-layered color spaces of Anna Snijder with the timeless, symbolic art of Veit Korn into a harmonious dialogue about the winding path to one’s self.

In the series Happiness is an inside job I & II, Anna Snijder explores the complexity of emotional states through an intricate layering of colors. Stylistically, these works show a clear affinity for Gerhard Richter’s squeegee technique: in a process of constant building up and scraping away, atmospheric landscapes emerge in which deeper layers are fragmentarily revealed. While cool blues and soft greens radiate a meditative calm, accents in vibrant orange and deep black provide powerful impulses. The title clarifies the central message: happiness is not an external event, but an active, often laborious process of layering and uncovering from within.

A grounding counterpoint is formed by the work Labyrinth by Veit Korn. The sculpture is a graphic meditation in stone, carved into red Main sandstone, which originally served as a floor slab of an 18th-century church. The gilded, circular labyrinth evokes the ancient Cretan motif and the myth of the Minotaur.

Both positions merge in this showroom into a universal narrative: while Snijder’s “Inner Work” uncovers the emotional layers of happiness, Korn’s Labyrinth offers the archaic form for exactly this path to the center.
