Art Gallery Imhof Fine Arts presents Form and Contrast – a staging that focuses on the interplay of organic abstraction, haptic materiality, and historical design. In this showroom, the wall space becomes a field of dialogue where contemporary art meets the design language of the classical modern era.
At the center is Ben Put’s work Contrast: Earth Colour Theme. The painting translates a process of reorientation into a flowing composition of soft earth tones, structured by precise, dark lines. While Put utilizes the principles of Post-Painterly Abstraction to combine clear color fields with linear precision, this visual tranquility finds an immediate continuation in the three-dimensional plane of the interior.
The special symbiosis of this staging lies in the connection of media: the wave-like movements on the canvas correspond in a fascinating way with the sculptural presence of Veit Korn’s Female Torso Fragment. The sculpture, hand-chiseled from Jurassic limestone, brings an archaic tension into the room that makes the theme of organic form haptically tangible. Stylistically, a bridge is also built to iconic design, as the curved bentwood frame of the Thonet chair continues the linear flow of the artworks throughout the space. A formal dialogue is created in which the precision of the chisel and the fluidity of paint enter into a deep resonance with their surroundings.
