In this painting, Miklós Németh draws on the luminous colour aesthetics of Fauvism and the subjective formal language of Classical Expressionism. The urban scene unfolds in a clearly structured composition of rhythmically placed colour fields and simplified architectural forms. Buildings, figures, and vehicles are recognisable yet deliberately broken in perspective and slightly distorted to create movement and dynamism.
The palette is intense and unbroken: vivid reds, bright yellows, rich greens, cool blues, and purple accents form a pulsating cityscape. As in Fauvism, the colours remain distinct and unmixed, giving the work a decorative, almost poster-like quality. At the same time, the simplified forms and strong contour lines recall the Expressionism of the early modern period, where emotional interpretation takes precedence over realistic depiction. The result is a city view full of energy and colour harmony that immediately captures the viewer’s attention.
