Heroic Uprising

Art Gallery Imhof Fine Arts presents heroic uprising – a staging where the monumental energy of Dick Berckenkamp meets the mystical presence of Roland Berger. In this showroom, high-energy color eruptions and biomorphic forms merge into a dialogue about strength, sovereignty, and the invisible.

At the center is Berckenkamp’s work Composition III (Heroes). The painting transforms a searching lightness into a powerful, almost monumental gesture that evokes an exploration of strength, presence, and rebellion. While bold black contour lines raise “heroes” as energetic apparitions from the colorful chaos, the vibrant pink and red tones at the center form an emotional heart radiating energy, power, and passion. The combination of soft applications of color and rapid, almost sketchy lines creates a visual tension that interprets the moment of heroism as pure feeling and energetic discharge. It is the visual manifestation of an individual energy that transitions into a collective goosebump moment – a vibration that goes directly under the skin beyond the visible world.

Roland Berger’s King serves as the sculptural counterpoint. The bronze appears like a mystical appearance, its surface resembling scarred bark and radiating a quiet authority. While Berckenkamp’s heroes embody the dynamics of awakening and uprising, the King forms the gravitational core. His gentle, downward-directed flow stands in tense contrast to the energetic ascent of the canvas. Within this balance between the revolutionary impulse of the painting and the grounding statics of the sculpture, a deep, almost tangible resonance unfolds.
